Cars... Lots of Cars

I don't know if I mentioned it here before, but The Mister loooooooove's cars.  He likes to drive them, look at them, talk about them, watch car shows on TV and videos on Youtube... and so on and so forth.  So for the last couple of days, we've been in Monterey for the Concorso Italiano.

"What in the world is that" you ask?

Why it's the largest gathering of Italian cars in the world.

Yeah, up until a couple of days ago, I had no idea either.

Thanks to our families who generously agreed to watch the kids, we had an action-packed couple of days filled with driving (350 miles each way), meeting new friends,  people watching and, of course, lots of car gawking.  Although tiring, it turned out to be a lot of fun!

I thought I'd share a few photos from the event.  Don't worry, I won't be going on and on about cars... my expertise pretty much ends at "ooh, nice wheels!" and "That's a pretty color!"...  A few car facts are seeping in through osmosis though--  There's a reason why The Mister watches The Speed Channel in the wee hours while I'm sound asleep!!

So anyhow, here is the Concorso Italiano from my perspective~

The scenic Lago Seco Golf Course
This was the 25th year that they've hosted the event...

Lots of People and Cars!
And this is just one small section of the event.

Ooh, pretty colors!

Food?  Did you say food?
The calamari was delish!

Sorry... Where were we?

Some were vintage...
I have a place in my heart for vintage... love the license plate!

Some were brand-spanking new...
Priceless custom Ferrari flown in from Japan.

Some had a "work of art" on a "work of art"
Artwork by Christian Lassen;  Car by Lamborghini

And some were a tad out of place...
This one had me scratching my head...

And there was other entertainment too...

Only an Italian could rock a white blazer and lavender shirt...
He's singing "O Sole Mio". This is probably the umpteenth time he's performed that song... he's probably thinking "darn you americans for making me sing this again and again!"  I kid... I have no idea what he's thinking.

These guys were awesome!  They played beautiful Italian music throughout the day and smiled the entire time.
Of course we picked up a couple of their cd's!

And great people watching...
How adorable is this man with his red socks and shoes?

Okay, I'm getting a little loopy.  Off to bed I go!  Hope you are having a nice weekend!
