[Make] Washi Eggs

This weekend I decided to delve into some Easter crafts.  I've been wanting to make Washi Eggs for a while now, so it seemed like the right place to start.  Instead of using traditional Japanese washi paper though, I decided to create an updated version using polka dot waxed tissue paper.  I also used a plastic egg instead of a handblown one-- I know my limits!  :)

The first egg took a while-- measuring, drawing lines, cutting & gluing will do that.  But once I got it down, the process sped up a bit.

I used this washi tape tutorial, but I found it to be a little confusing, so I detailed everything out below.

Measure your egg--
width = circumference (all the way around) at widest part of egg
length = circumference from top to bottom to top of egg - divided in half (important!)

Draw your cutting lines--

All dried and ready for display!

Clear as mud, right?  I tried... If you have any questions, let me know!  Also, I thought I'd share a photo of some traditional Washi Eggs--

Pretty, huh.  So one Easter craft down... Many, many more to go!

Have a nice week!
