Stamped Burlap Ornaments
burlap
sharp scissors
white glue - i used tacky glue
this template from martha stewart- template for 2 or 3-inch foam ball; for 2.5-inch ball, enlarge to 105%
pack of foam balls - more economical than styrofoam
small alphabet stamps
permanent ink stamp pad - i used StazOn in jet black
ribbon, twine or string
pins
bells, faux ivy or evergreen, other small decorations (optional)
Step 1: Print out the template and cut out the appropriate size for your sphere. For my 2.5-inch sphere, I enlarged the template to 105% and cut-out the 2-inch size. To ensure that the size is correct, the tips of the template should reach the poles of the sphere.
Step 2: Cut out the burlap using the template--
Step 4: Lay down one piece at a time and smooth down the edges--
Step 6: Attach your ribbon/twine hanger and any other embellishments. I used a little glue and a pin to secure the hanger to the foam ball.
for "jingle" i had to add some jingle bells. i toned down the brass by lightly sponging on some white acrylic paint. as soon as i find my faux ivy stash, i'm going to add a leaf to the top of "merry".
These happy little ornaments just make me smile. A trip to the craft store may be in order so that I can make some more!
Hope you're having a nice weekend!
